Since one of our principles are the 5Rs (Reduce, Reuse, Rebuild, Repurpose, Recycle) We hardly ever discard anything. Which would make us hoarders, unless we have you, The Guys Who Fix Everything onboard. We need new brake pads on one of our vehicles? Call The Guys! My door doesn’t lock! Call The Guys! Darn, I broke the handle of this shovel! Where are The Guys? The power just went out! Hey Guys!

In summary you will be part of a team, in charge of keeping our systems and tools alive. Of course there are very few people who have such wide understanding and skills of EVERYTHING. Therefore we are not looking for people who actually know all the solutions, but rather people whose approach to any problem is one of curiosity and a strong natural drive to figure out and implement a solution. As with all positions at Tranqvillium, you will not be stuck with just this one role. All members of our team perform general community tasks, and can also change their main role at any time if it turns out that their interest or passion changed. All team members can also participate in any of the other projects being run in the community.

Passions you need to have to be successful in this position:

  • Solution oriented thinking
  • A strong and inherent discomfort about the “throw-away” culture
  • Researching and learning new skills not only in sustainable gardening but all fields of sustainable living
  • Dissecting all objects that you can get your hands on. (please be ready to put them back together too)
  • “ I can’t go to sleep until I figure out how this thing works/why this thing is not working”

Tasks:

  • Keep our tools usable
  • Keep our residential systems operational
  • Keep our vehicles safe and functional
  • In general, keep our world spinning on its axis
